Let’s Go! Episode 76 – Let’s Get A Haircut

Is Niall at the barbers? That may explain his absence on this instalment of Let's Go where Luke takes a detour from Garo's stylised version of America to bust ghosts at a Norwegian fishing village. We also get a look behind the scenes of Pop Team Epic's conquest of the idol industry, take a ride in the Karamatsu taxi and Frieza lends a totally-definitely-not-gonna-betray-you hand to Gohan again. If you come in with your hair already washed this podcast is half price!

Let’s Go! Episode 75 – Let’s Get Fat

Bigger is better as the Classicaloid boys try to conquer the world of sumo and we follow suit with a metric fudge-ton of anime! Raunchy robots in Darling In The Franxx, a parade of puddycats in Mitchiri Neko, beautiful trauma in Violet Evergarden and of course all the usual ongoing mainstays. What a load!

Show #163: Family Dog (1987/1993)

The Brad Bird bombardment continues as we check the pedigree of animated short and TV spinoff Family Dog!

After a lot of hard graft in the 80s Brad Bird finally broke through and landed a life-changing job working on The Simpsons. Everybody wanted something from television's new golden boy, such that even his past projects were dusted off and ill-advisedly moulded into unwieldy forms with little to no input from their original creator! But does Family Dog the series deserve it's place in the boneyard of prime-time cartoon pretenders? Careers are catalogued, points are missed and yet more pondering is done on our podcast prospects!

Let’s Go! Episode 74 – Let’s Destroy The Anime Industry

A whole new season of anime opens up before us and there's a definite trend of "cute girls doing stuff" re-emerging to ease us into a turbulent 2018. So what could be more fitting than for Pop Team Epic to arrive and sweep all that aside with their ruthless non-sequitur humour, or for Devilman Crybaby to douse us in blood, sex and drugs. All these and more new titles along with our continuing old favourites get the Let's Go treatment. It's the beginning of the end of the beginning!

Show #162: Animalympics

It's the first proper show of the new year with a semi-different format that we're still working out! The obvious starting point for this approach? The TV movie Animalympics of course!

We're always looking to do better here at SOTSM so 2018 seems as good a time as any after putting this out for so long to freshen up our methods a little bit. What we're hoping to try here is to divert our tendency to overthink & tangentialise to the purpose of highlighting those hidden links and pathways lying just under the surface of the animation world. To that end while we figure out where to begin with this we thought we'd look at a more auspicious start in the bright career of cartoon creative Brad Bird, with his first professional credit on this 1980 TV special from the director of Tron, and follow his route from there. What other surprising staff will we discover? Is this format really going to inspire any substantial change? Will Niall's voice hold out until the end of the recording? The answers to these questions may only be found on the almost new, almost improved Secret Of The Sailor Madness!

Let’s Go! Episode 73 – Let’s End 2017

A new year of anime has begun but we'd be remiss if we didn't tie up a few loose ends from 2017. Inuyashiki goes out with a bang, Magical Circle Guru Guru looks for a continue, Blood Blockade Battlefront closes the office for now and Land Of The Lustrous leaves a few mysteries still buried. All our favourite dumb idiots in Mr Osomatsu, Classicaloid and Dragon Ball Super will keep us warm though until the inevitable avalanche of winter season series that we'll struggle to stay on top of. New year, same podcast!
