Let’s Go JoJo! #22 – The G In Guts

I don't remember ordering this! Not that Narancia can offer much protest as both his lunch and his tongue are hijacked by a brace of Stand users from the boss's super secret hit squad who seem a lot closer than just work colleagues. Psychic battles are also on the menu in Mob Psycho 100 as Seasoning City bears the brunt of an esper assault and Dororo serves up supernatural shellfish before we wash it all down with the bitter black tea of Gegege No Kitaro. Buon appetito!

Show #177: Pilot Pot Luck - Coulda Been A Contender!

Unsatisfied with enjoying just the raw brutality contained within the next podcast topic we wildly speculate upon the action-packed vistas of violence that could've, should've or never will be!

Not everybody can be champ, but as media production and distribution methods advance over time we're seeing a reasonable amount of weird new content that might never have had a shot otherwise. Taking Netflix's Grappler Baki as a starting point we wax lyrical about the future fighting chances of some conceptual cartoons that never took it all the way: Genndy Tartakovsky's cursed Popeye movie, Yoshiaki Kawajiri's similarly stymied sequel to Ninja Scroll, the hack & slash hero homage that was Korgoth Of Barbaria and the brief glimmer of greatness that were the Marvel Anime teaser trailers. Is this an exercise in futility? We ask ourselves that every day, but let's have fun finding out together!

SOTSM x DITB: Porco Rosso

Who are those magnificent men in their flying machines? Why it's Brian and Anthony from Dynamite In The Brain, forming up on the wing with our own Dwayne to jaw about Studio Ghibli's paean to the pig-headed pilot Porco Rosso. Well, it's more of a dogfight really as two of the hosts make a vain attempt to dissuade the other from his wayward thoughts. It might take a game of HOG OR MOG to separate the pigs from the cats and settle the issue for good! To find out you'll just have to listen up!

Let’s Go! #113 – Let’s Show You What We’ve Got

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure may have taken a break for a recap but we sure didn't, as this intermission edition of Let's Go picks up the slack with all the other currently streaming anime other podcasts are too chicken to talk about! Marital strife in Bonobono! A terrifying day in the office for Ekoda-chan! Whatever the hell is going on in Karakuri Circus! All rolled up alongside the comparatively more sensible offerings in Mob Psycho 100, Boogiepop And Others and Dororo. No rest for the totally wicked!

Let’s Go JoJo! #21 – The Mystery of King Crimson

The moment Jojo fans have been alternatingly dreading/eagerly awaiting has arrived as we find out along with Bruno just how the boss's Stand King Crimson actually works. The answer: pretty straightforward when committed to a moving medium over a static manga image! Luckily Gold Experience is on hand to provide all the Stand related bafflement this arc is notorious for. If you aren't confused yet then Karakuri Circus hops back on the crazy train after weeks of relative stability, Boogiepop And Others invades our dreams and one mystery may finally be solved with the return of Raccoon's mother in Bonobono. We'll crack this case yet!

What are the mysterious mobster's true intentions? And can Bruno get any closer to realising his own secret goals? All the usual anime lurks in the corner also, overshadowed as it may be the mighty impact of five episodes of Boogiepop And Others dropping at once! The tension is killing us!

Show #176: Battle Angel Alita (1993)

Us? Jump on a bandwagon? Perish the thought! We're merely embracing our new cyberpunk present and getting into the spirit of things with the Battle Angel Alita OVA!

James Cameron's long gestating adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's classic cyborg manga is tearing up cinemas around the world at last, so we thought we'd look back at the last time Battle Angel Alita, aka Gunnm, appeared on screens in this two part OVA that gives you the broad strokes of the story in fairly short order. Considering it served as a design influence for the live action how well does it capture the essence of the original manga? Comic comparisons, real world dystopias and fashionable director photos are taken apart!

Let’s Go JoJo! #19 – White Album

Giorno and Mista better get their skates on before Ghiaccio puts them both on ice for good! Against a foe who can freeze solid the very air around them though do they have a snowball's chance in Hell? Big Sister Dai's new boyfriend gets a frosty reception in Bonobono and a childhood yokai chum gets the cold shoulder in Gegege No Kitaro, but Hyakkimaru's explosion of anger oughta keep us warm in Dororo. Chill out!
