This new iteration of the popular Turtles franchise was off to a flying start when last we talked about it and it just about maintains that pace as it finishes it's debut season. A steady escalation of events build to a heady climax with space to develop in later seasons but not without a few missteps along the way. Turtles fans have got it pretty good at the moment, so enjoy it now before you undoubtedly get mad at Michael Bay's bizarre live-action feature arriving next year!

A pleasant surprise! Speculation mounted in the months leading up to the airing of this show as the promotional art displayed the radical direction the franchise appeared to be taking, leading many to worry that it's aesthetics and CG animation would be too much of a departure from the beloved Turtles they know and love.

Luckily for all this modern interpretation does a wonderful job of updating and developing the characters made famous by it's predecessors. The tone is well balanced between humour and peril, the action is fast-paced and brilliantly choreographed and the new animation style turns out to be a great fit for the show's new direction (with a few caveats however). We're looking forward to watching more in the future.

By the time MIB TV got to it's third season it was comfortably set up as the sci fi police procedural it was striving to be; car chases, shootouts, pumping informants for information, rival agents in Lethal Weapon style partnerships who (never) get results and all this while having to answer to the Chief AND the Alien Mayor. Sure this means the show might stick to a pretty safe formula but with that comes a consistent level of quality in both story and visuals. To a paraphrase a great man, they make this look good!
