An old friend returns to our midst for one last caper, and for an essentially made-for-TV movie that was lucky enough to get a cinema run School's Out strikes a surpisingly effective note of nostalgia that resonates with us sensitive podcast personalities as Niall expounds upon at length. Baby's First 60s Mixtape and the depraved actions one takes to maintain a disguise also find room in a refreshing radio release!

Much has been writ of this fondly remembered cinematic outing on its 30th anniversary this year, so we'll do our utmost to add a personal touch to our remembrances of everyone's favourite 80s toybox slaughterfest, uneven as it may be but still one heck of a good time. Tales are spun of early lessons in the finality of death, myths are busted about the talent behind the scenes and inspiring anecdotes of the films marvellously upbeat soundtrack are shared.

Landing in our midst via the mystical power of Youtube suggested videos comes Gen 13, based on the Wildstorm comic of the same name about superpowered teens fighting the government. The film makes the most of its somewhat generic source material with the directorial talents of Kevin Altieri of Batman: TAS and a few standout performances from the voice cast, making for a pretty decent TV movie with a surprising amount of character.

High time for another Don Bluth film as we haven't broached the subject, one very close to Niall's heart, since Titan A.E. All Dogs Go To Heaven for the most part looks and sounds like what you'd expect from a film made by ex-Disney staff but crucially takes the premise of its title in bold and often dark directions. The narrative is often disjointed, likely from too many writers all having a say in the finished product, but it winds up to a touching ending with the right amount of closure. And then they went and made a sequel anyways!

Show #25: His Afro Absorbs All Light

We must look like a right pair of jive turkeys for missing a week but such is the sheer righteous force of the Black Dynamite TV series. Can you dig it?

One of our favourite movies got made into one of our favourite cartoons, or at least a pretty good cartoon. Hampered a bit by drawing on the gags made famous by it's live action source a little too frequently the episodes currently on offer can be hit or miss. The hits have all the power of a Black Dynamite kung-fu strike to the skull though so we're itching to know if we'll get any more of this.

Having a bad day? Not yet you aren't. At least not as bad as the poor mutts in this 1982 animated film from the director of Watership Down based on the novel by the author of the same. Should you be brave enough to venture a viewing you will find a beautifully crafted piece loaded with powerful imagery that will linger in the mind long after you're done watching.
